Stefan Pierrou – Experienced Leader of Drug Development Projects

With more than 17 years of experience as a line manager and drug project leader within the global pharmaceutical industry, Stefan Pierrou has what it takes to oversee and steer the whole range of project activities entailed in pharmaceutical development.

Stefan Pierrou’s scientific career started at Chalmers University of Technology, where he graduated as MSc in chemical engineering in 1991. Five years later he defended his doctoral thesis ’Human fork-head genes’ in the field of transcription factors and their control.

Many Years at AstraZeneca
He then moved to Lund and Astra Draco and soon took on group leading roles in the Cell and Molecular Biology department. After various positions leading different research groups within the bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics field he was back on the west coast and AstraZeneca in Mölndal in 2002.
”At AstraZeneca, I’ve had several drug project and line leading responsibilities within the fields of gastro intestinal and cardio-vascular diseases. I lead or was the functional representative in several projects that reached clinical testing and phase II for gastrointestinal disorders, such as IBD, IBS and gastroesophageal reflux disease,” he tells.
Since 2014, he’s been hired by Vivolux, Corline and Antaros Medical for specific drug projects.
”After all my years at a big pharmaceutical company, it is both rewarding and inspiring to be able to contribute to the development of products in smaller entrepreneurial companies,” Stefan Pierrou concludes.
