Innovation and quality are aspects that have always been at the forefront of Mölnlycke Health Care’s operations. In order to provide innovative solutions of high quality to various fields within healthcare, not least in areas such as surgical and difficult to treat wounds, Mölnlycke Health Care relies on world-leading research combined with strong partnerships.
This is also a strongly contributing reason why all Gothenburg-based operations within Mölnlycke will be moving to new premises at GoCo Health Innovation City from January 2025. The key was officially handed over on October 1, 2024.
“We see the opportunity to, together with other organisations, be able to lead change and create synergies where one plus one becomes more than two. The move means so much more than a new office for us. It will create completely new opportunities for us to co-create with experts from other disciplines. This is also why we have become a Founding Partner for the GoCo Arena”, explains Kristin Hedlund, Executive Vice President Legal and General Manager of the Gothenburg Site.
New opportunities
The vision of the move to GoCo is to take the core business at Mölnlycke to the next level, according to Hedlund.
“We primarily see the move as another milestone met. It enables us to truly live our vision with a focus on sustainability, digitization and customer centricity. These are our core values, and all our operations are developed based on, as well as depending on, how well we can meet our goals in all three areas”.
Kristin Hedlund is mostly looking forward to become a part of the vibrant collaborative environment at GoCo. “We are confident that our presence at GoCo can attract the kind of skills we need now and in the future”, she adds.
Hedlund also encourages us to see GoCo as a bag of goodies with an exciting mix of different companies in health care. Extra exciting is that there is also a strong presence of non-commercial businesses represented, with researchers from the academy among others.
“This made GoCo the obvious choice for us since Embrace partnerships is one of our core values, . We look forward to becoming part of an environment where openness and cooperation are key activities”.
Leading change
The reason why Mölnlycke exists is to revolutionise care for people and planet. Innovation is, and has always been, most important. A new step for Mölnlycke is to focus on radical innovation, outside of the traditional wound care for example. This in turn fits well in the current strategy, which is based on an entire year of studies of the use of Mölnlycke’s products in real-life environments.
After conducting over 1000 interviews with different patient groups and health care professionals, the customer-centric strategy was developed. By getting even closer to customers, Mölnlycke can help to create even more benefit for healthcare professionals and patients.
Mölnlycke manufactures single-use products, and therefore sustainability work is even more important.
“For us, sustainability is so much more than environmental sustainability. We weave all aspects of sustainability into our value chain, with a focus on green mindset, responsible relationships and ethical business. It is also about supporting healthcare professionals to improve their wellbeing for a sustainable workforce. An example of our sustainability focus, is at our factory in Malaysia, which is our flagship for how to work sustainably in our industry, and which sets a completely new standard for how our future factories within Mölnlycke should look”, Hedlund explains.
When it comes to digitalisation, Mölnlycke takes a wider perspective. Making use of new, digital technology can improve the way the products are used. It can simplify training of using the products, and so on. Mölnlycke is even looking into how AI can change the future of wound care.
Anyone can clearly see that Mölnlycke has set out to be a leader in sustainability, in digitization, and in customer centricity.
