The next big breakthrough
Gynius made a breakthrough introducing the Gynecular, the world’s first mobile and easy to use colposcope. Right from the beginning, focus was on improving women’s health and saving lives in countries where a lot of women are not offered any screening method at all to detect HPV and cervical cancer.
Dr Huaqing Li visits each country in person, ensuring that the technology is used at its full potential. The client is often a non-profit organization focused on improving health. The goal was to introduce the Gynecular and make it standard use. This has now been met. The next step is to manifest Gynius as a complete cervical cancer solutions provider in low- to middle income countries.
There are several countries in Africa, South America and parts of Asia, that lack the resources to screen its female population efficiently and at a cost that is manageable for them. As a result, death rates of cervical cancer are high in these areas. The mission has always been to offer a solution that is both easy to use, and affordable.
“We rely on the fast, accurate and affordable approach as we develop our HPV DNA testing with large scale screening sessions. This is our biggest breakthrough yet”, says Dr Huaqing Li.
Large-scale HPV DNA testing
By developing new and large scale HPV DNA testing methods, several challenges in the process of sampling is met. The main challenges are to quickly and safely obtain biological samples, provide quality control, and storing the samples without access to expensive, temperature regulated storage units.
“We have successfully developed a high capacity method to automize the sampling process, making it possible to collect and process up to 4000 samples a day in an easy to use open system. Furthermore, the samples are made in a way that makes it possible to store them in room temperature. This has never been done before”, says Dr Li, being pleased about the progress so far, but adamant about continuous development.
“We have successfully changed Gynius’ organizational focus from single product developer and manufacturer to a full solution provider. We help detect and diagnose one of the world’s most deadly viruses and diseases. We will not rest until our solutions are standardized globally”.
Predict and prevent
Focus is now not only on detecting cervical cancer, but also on being able to predict its development in the future. By detecting the virus, treatment can be applied without delay and cancer can be avoided completely.
Gynius continues to invest in its technology advancement, deepening contact with humanitarian organisations, enabling screening of more and more women, providing complete solutions for detection, screening and even prevention of further complications. Saving lives has always been the main goal and Gynius stays true to that mission.
