ALMI supports national growth in many ways

ALMI Företagspartner AB is a national channel for complementary advice and strategic planning, aimed at companies with up to 250 employees or an annual turnover under 50 million euro. ALMI recently provided advisory services to the innovator of a new version of the popular acupressure mat, and from that also assisting in the founding of the company Duo International in Malmö.

State-owned ALMI supports economic growth by providing supportive advisory services to both newly founded companies and established businesses. ALMI also supports commercially feasible innovations based on a deeply-rooted expertise in launching new projects and products. ALMI provides solid advice regarding for example the patenting process and therefore ALMI is also in that sense a stepping stone for innovators becoming entrepreneurs.
“Marilyn Pettersson identified an accelerating demand for the new acupressure mat, which is a development of an existing innovation. At the same time, it is in fact unique, as the new version developed by the innovator is based on less-pain and more ease for the user”, ALMI Företagspartner Skåne AB CEO Anders Norman explains.

The use of acupressure mats
The acupressure mat, also known as the yantra mat or spike mat, can effectively reduce pain and ease sore muscles as pressure is applied to the tender parts. Most people experience a sense of well-being while using an acupressure mat. The spikes help to increase blood circulation while releasing our natural “feel-good” hormones endorphin and oxytocin.
A lot of people actually find that using an acupressure mat also provides better sleeping patterns. Marilyn Pettersson’s patented innovation has taken the traditional acupressure mat one step further, enabling more users to try the mat. Not only is it a kinder version, it is also highly flexible based on different levels of pressure suited to the user.

Commercial viability the key
IFS advisory services is a special area of competence within ALMI Företagspartner aimed at entrepreneurs with foreign backgrounds who are in the process of starting a business or who are already running one. “Innovators and inventors are also welcome to make use of our competence and services”.
It is often challenging to start up a business, and the conditions are not always the same in different parts of the world. ALMI assists entrepreneurs with foreign backgrounds by providing professional advice on the regulations that apply in Sweden, guidance as how to set up business here and where applicable, ALMI can also offer financing.
“The key is whether a project is commercially viable. Our ambition is to help our clients in the process of developing innovations into commercial products and companies, creating regional and national growth. There are many great innovations, but we must make a distinction where we focus on projects which also meet a demand on the market”, concludes Anders Norman.
